Kallas announces plans to provide Ukraine with €40 billion in military aid
On March 17, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs announced the bloc's plans to provide €40 billion in military aid to Ukraine
She made the statement at a press conference following the EU Council's foreign affairs meeting in Brussels, as reported by European Pravda.
Kallas noted that the initiative had already received support from the majority of EU member states.
"Regarding Ukraine, there is broad political support for the €40 billion defense initiative. Of course, the discussion is now focused on the details. At the last European Council meeting (March 6), we received conclusions that we need to move forward with this initiative quickly, and we've done further work on this issue," she emphasized.
The EU High Representative added that the EU must demonstrate its determination in supporting Ukraine during this critical time. "Everyone at the table understood that we must show our resolve right now and support Ukraine so that it can defend itself," Kallas concluded.
