Hungary open to hosting Ukraine-Russia peace talks, says foreign minister
Hungary has reiterated its offer to host Russia-Ukraine peace talks, saying that the proposal remains open and the country is ready to provide safe conditions
Reuters reported the information.
Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó commented on reports that the White House was considering Budapest for a potential trilateral summit between U.S. President Donald Trump, Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with preparations already underway.
"If we are needed, we are ready to provide appropriately fair and safe conditions for such peace negotiations. We are pleased if we can contribute to the success of peace efforts," he said.
However, Hungary’s Foreign Minister denied reports that U.S. President Donald Trump called Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to discuss Ukraine’s EU accession after Monday’s summit with Ukraine’s president and European leaders.
"I want to make it clear that there was no such call. There was not. Period," Szijjártó emphasized.
