Hungarian representatives blocked the EU's joint statement on the non-recognition of the so-called presidential elections in Belarus

Radio Svoboda reported the information, citing sources in Brussels.
Initially, the Belarusian service of Radio Free Europe reported that Hungary and Slovakia refused to sign the draft statement on behalf of the 27 EU countries. Later, Slovak representatives agreed to sign the statement, leaving Hungary as the only EU member that did not.
The outlet emphasizes that Hungary, under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, has repeatedly opposed expanding sanctions against Russia and increasing European aid to Ukraine.
