Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced a petition in his country against the “war plans of Brussels,” referring to the EU’s defense plan that provides financial support to the Ukrainian army

He made the statement on his Facebook page.

“We face a hot autumn. Europe is moving faster toward war. A few weeks ago in Copenhagen, Brussels presented a war plan: Europe pays, Ukrainians fight, and Russia will be exhausted. We were not told how much this would cost or how long it would last. Instead of a strategy, it was just wishful thinking by Brussels,” Orbán wrote.

The minister said that during the EU summit in early October in Copenhagen, he clearly stated: “We did not ask for this.” Since then, according to Orbán, the EU has launched a campaign against Hungary, including “accusations of spying, fake news, and legal manipulations.”

“They moved against us in Brussels… We cannot stand aside and watch this! We must show once again that the Hungarian people do not want war. That is why we are starting a petition against Brussels’ war plans,” the Hungarian prime minister added.

  • On October 2, the European Political Community summit took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On the sidelines, Zelenskyy held several meetings with European leaders on Ukraine’s security issues.
