France, UK build powerful nuclear shield for EU, Ukraine — diplomat
Diplomat Volodymyr Dzhydzhora says that the reaction of the Moscow authorities was hysterical when France announced that it was offering its nuclear umbrella for Europe, including Ukraine
He stated this on the Espreso TV channel.
“NATO member states in Europe have sufficient financial resources to support their own security and defense sector and to assist Ukraine. However, both Ukraine and Europe lack the scale of arms production and the latest weaponry that has proven effective in the Russia-Ukraine war.
France withdrew from NATO’s military structure in 1966. Why did this happen? Because that was the year when the formation of NATO’s joint nuclear collective umbrella began. The French said, ‘No, we will remain independent with our nuclear weapons.’ France only returned to NATO’s military structure in 2009. At the same time, France still does not participate in NATO’s nuclear planning group,” Dzhydzhora explained.
According to the diplomat, the reaction of the Moscow authorities was hysterical when France declared that it was offering its nuclear umbrella for Europe, including Ukraine. France’s next step was the announcement of forming units for training—not for engaging in combat operations, but for conducting training exercises for Ukrainian troops on Ukrainian territory.
“For over 20 years, I have tried to convince our NATO colleagues that we need a NATO training mission in Ukraine, based on the experience in Afghanistan. Why is Moscow hysterical? Because France does not share any information with NATO regarding its nuclear potential. This means that any Russian spies cannot access France’s nuclear secrets through NATO structures,” Dzhydzhora emphasized.
The diplomat added that Russia currently does not know where France’s warheads are located or the algorithms for their deployment. In other words, the Russians have fewer chances of reaching them with their “dirty hands.”
“It is known that in the old NATO headquarters, Russian spies installed bugs, which led to a complete redesign of the security system and the expulsion of Russian agents from there.
Thus, the UK’s collective nuclear weapons within NATO and France’s separate nuclear arsenal outside NATO create a powerful, complementary European nuclear umbrella,” Dzhydzhora concluded.
- Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France and Canada are demanding “clear commitments” from Russia regarding peace in Ukraine, stressing that any agreement must be accompanied by security guarantees.
