Finland ready to defend Suwałki Gap against possible Russian provocation — political analyst
Russia may carry out a provocation against NATO countries in the Suwałki Corridor. Finland will be ready to defend this NATO area
Political analyst Andrey Piontkovsky stated this in an interview with Studio West program host Antin Borkovskyi on Espreso TV.
He commented on the possible Russian provocation against NATO in the Suwałki Gap.
“As for expanding the front near Suwałki, it will likely be a non-nuclear escalation with conventional weapons. But here, I’ll say, there are divisions ready to help Ukraine fight — the Finns. One hundred thousand Finnish infantrymen are ready to fight; Finns are eager for this battle in their fourth war with Russia in the last century. They have enough historical memory and enough resources for this war. Overall, I believe the political, military, and psychological conditions are favorable for Ukraine and its Western allies,” Piontkovskyi said.
For reference: The Suwałki Gap is an approximately 100-kilometer border zone between Lithuania and Poland, bordering the Kaliningrad region to the west and Belarus to the east.
