Finland and Norway are assisting in the preparation of a peace plan for Ukraine, with Helsinki set to engage in talks with Kyiv soon

Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced that Finland and Norway are assisting in the preparation of a peace plan for Ukraine, with Helsinki set to hold talks with Kyiv in the coming days, according to Yle.

Stubb stated that "progress has been made" at the Ukraine-focused summit in London, highlighting that Ukraine, the UK, and France will take the lead in developing the peace plan.

He confirmed that Finland and Norway are contributing to the plan's preparation but clarified that no new commitments have been made regarding the deployment of European troops to Ukraine.

The Finnish president emphasized that support for Kyiv should encompass military, political, and economic assistance. He also noted that while the UK and France are considering a military presence in Ukraine, countries bordering Russia — which are responsible for NATO’s defense in the region — recognize that their contributions will vary.

  • Finland is launching a new program to support Ukraine called the New Ukraine program, designed to boost procurement from the country’s defense industry.
