Finland launches new support program for Ukraine
Finland is launching a new program to support Ukraine called the New Ukraine program, designed to boost procurement from the country’s defense industry
The program was announced by the Finnish Ministry of Defense, with the government set to review a proposal for €660 million in funding to support the domestic defense sector.
The New Ukraine initiative aims to engage Finnish companies and leverage their expertise to help Ukraine in its defense efforts. While Finland has previously provided support mainly through stockpiles, a significant portion of future aid will now be sourced from Finnish manufacturers.
Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen emphasized that the program will not only help Ukraine achieve a just peace but also enhance the long-term resilience of Finland’s defense industry and ensure security of supply.
The selection of weapons and equipment for the program will be based on Ukraine's most critical needs, the suitability of the products for transfer, and the manufacturing and logistical capacities of Finnish companies. Supplies will be included in future military aid packages to Ukraine.
- President Donald Trump confirmed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will come to the White House Friday to sign an agreement on natural resources.
