Espreso journalist Kateryna Halko reported the information.

Metsola took part in a parliamentary session and addressed the lawmakers. She expressed condolences over the assassination of former Parliament Chairman Andrii Parubiy.

In the context of security guarantees for Kyiv, she emphasized, “Nothing can and will be decided about Ukraine without Ukraine.”

“Over the past years, Russia has continued its relentless attacks on Ukraine and threatens all of Europe. Just this month, over 3,500 drones were launched against Ukraine. My message today is that we do not waver in our support for Ukraine and our shared pursuit of peace. We will actually strengthen our assistance to ensure Ukraine is ready for the cold winter months,” Metsola said.

The European Parliament head announced €40 million in humanitarian aid to help provide heating and power in Ukraine.

“Together with our partners, we will build shelters, provide generators, repair damaged homes, and improve access to water and sanitation,” she added.

During a meeting with the Ukrainian government, Metsola discussed strengthening bilateral ties.

“I especially want to thank Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk, with whom I attended the G7 Speakers’ Summit in Canada, and all members of the Verkhovna Rada for their determination, dedication, and hard work. We aim to move forward toward Ukraine’s EU membership because we know your future is in the European Union,” Metsola said.

She also announced the opening of a European Parliament office in the capital.

“We expect the 19th sanctions package to be adopted soon, and we are coordinating with our allies to ensure maximum impact. We will continue moving away from Russian gas and oil and also address issues concerning the shadow fleet, doing so faster,” Metsola assured.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada reported that Roberta Metsola was greeted at Kyiv’s central railway station by Parliament Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk.

“Her visit is an important signal of unity and unwavering support for Ukraine,” the parliamentary speaker said.

At the same time, Metsola later posted on Instagram with the caption, "Next stop: Kyiv."
