The European Union needs to revise its security model and strengthen its own defense forces in order to ensure stability on the continent independently, without relying exclusively on the United States

Ukrainian lawmaker Ivan Krulko stated this on Espreso TV.

"In Davos, there is a sense that Ukraine and Russia's war against Ukraine are no longer in the top positions, as they were two or three years ago - that's a fact. New challenges are emerging, each country has its own problems, its own national interests. There are difficult discussions between leaders who are part of NATO, in particular. We saw the verbal sparring between President Trump and the Canadian Prime Minister, but I believe this will all pass. I wouldn't make a great tragedy out of it. In my opinion, this does not mean the collapse of NATO," Krulko noted.

According to the MP, the European Union needs to reconsider its behavioral model from the perspective of European security, because European security should not be solely a matter for the United States.

"Europe must form its own European Security Forces and build an autonomous system that will be able to solve problems on the European continent independently. This crisis should lead European leaders to precisely this conclusion. And Ukraine must be one of the important elements in this component for ensuring Europe's future security," Krulko emphasized.

  • The European Parliament has officially confirmed the suspension of work on approving the EU-U.S. trade agreement due to Donald Trump's threats to impose tariffs against certain European Union countries.
