Croatia gives Ukraine robotic demining system
On Saturday, August 31, Croatia announced it has transferred the DOK-ING MV-4 robotic demining system to Ukraine
Ukrinform reported on this development.
The official handover took place at the Globsec Forum in Prague, where Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ivan Anušić, along with executives from the manufacturing company, presented the certificate to Ukrainian representatives.
Anušić highlighted that demining Ukraine will be a lengthy and costly endeavor.
“Demining is an enormous task, and international support is absolutely essential. Ukraine is not alone; we’ll work together for as long as it takes,” the Croatian minister stressed.
Anušić also shared the outcomes of the 2023 donor conference in Zagreb, where nearly half a billion dollars were raised.
The Croatian official added that this funding will be crucial for successful recovery, as humanitarian demining is a prerequisite for reconstruction, economic growth, and the safe return of displaced people.
For reference: DOK-ING manufactures remote-controlled robotic demining systems. Since the onset of the Russian invasion, the company has delivered 42 of these systems to various Ukrainian entities. These systems have cleared nearly 12 million square meters of land and neutralized over 5,600 mines and explosives without any casualties among the operators. So far, more than 150 specialists have been trained to operate these systems, and the company plans to open an office in Ukraine soon.
- On July 16, the U.S. State Department provided $5.8 million worth of demining equipment to Ukraine's State Special Transport Service.
