Ukraine, Russia, and ceasefire
White House may declare Wagner PMC terrorist organization
client/title.list_title
The administration of US President Joe Biden is considering declaring the Wagner PMC, linked to Kremlin oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin, a foreign terrorist organization.
This is reported by Bloomberg, citing its own sources.
It is alleged that recognizing Wagner PMC as a foreign terrorist organization would allow the United States to launch criminal proceedings against the group and its members, as well as seize its assets around the world.
A final decision on this has not yet been made, Bloomberg's interlocutors stressed. The White House and the US State Department did not comment on the information.
Washington's prosecution of the Wagner PMC is designed to deter the activities of mercenaries in Ukraine, as well as counteract their growing influence in Africa. The group, like its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, is already under US, EU and British sanctions.
