26 April, 2024 Friday, 10:35 The United States is preparing to sign $6 billion worth of arms and equipment contracts for the Ukrainian army, which will include a wide range of assistance
Politico reported the information.
Two US officials told the outlet that the contents of the $6 billion military aid package could be announced on April 26.
According to one of the officials and a third person familiar with the matter, the package will include Patriot air defense systems, artillery ammunition, drones, anti-drone weapons, and air-to-air missiles to be mounted on fighter jets.
Politico writes that the equipment is likely to arrive in Ukraine over several years, as the money is allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which awards contracts to US defense firms to make new equipment rather than draw from current US stockpiles.
