This became known from a broadcast on the White House's YouTube channel.

The upper house of the U.S. Congress passed H.R. 815, a bill that provides assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, as well as a response to other challenges to U.S. national security. In particular, the bill includes $61 billion for Ukraine.

The Senate voted 79 in favor, with 50 votes needed. "There were 18 votes against.

Earlier, the White House released a statement saying that Biden would sign the package of bills on April 24 to resume arms supplies to Ukraine the same week.

Zelenskyy: This vote strengthens America's role as a beacon of democracy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the U.S. Senate for approving vital assistance to Ukraine.

"I am grateful to Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for their strong leadership in advancing this bipartisan legislation, as well as to all U.S. senators from both parties who voted for it. This vote strengthens America's role as a beacon of democracy and a leader of the free world," the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy also thanked all Americans who continue to support Ukraine and realize that the historical significance of this bill goes beyond politics. Zelenskyy said he appreciated Biden's support and looked forward to signing the bill as soon as possible and providing the next military aid package, which "will be in line with the determination I always feel in our negotiations."

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine's long-range capabilities, artillery and air defense are extremely important tools for the speedy restoration of a just peace.
