Trump: U.S. produces weapons for NATO and Ukraine but aims to “stop the war”
President Donald Trump said that the United States is producing both defensive and offensive weapons for NATO, stressing that Washington is “not funding the war” in Ukraine
Donald Trump announced this during a U.S. government cabinet meeting.
According to Trump, U.S. plants are producing weapons for NATO, including Patriot air defense systems.
“They (European NATO countries) want the American product, the American military product, because it is undoubtedly the best in the world. They have many options, but they want this one,” he said.
The U.S. president also stated at a government meeting that the United States is “not funding Russia’s war” against Ukraine, explaining that Washington is not helping Kyiv with its own money.
Instead, he said, the U.S. is participating “in efforts to stop the war, to stop the killings in Ukraine.”
Trump added that Washington profits from arms sales to NATO, but did not specify the amount.
- Earlier, Trump said that Washington no longer spends money on Ukraine, calling Russia’s war on Ukraine “a big personality conflict.”
