We wanted to restore order with Russia when USSR collapsed, but it was too early back then – Lech Wałęsa
Former Polish President Lech Wałęsa believes that now is the time to help Russia change its political system – Russians need to be convinced through propaganda
He stated this in an exclusive interview with Espreso.
According to him, Vladimir Putin has turned the entire civilized world against him, so now is the perfect time to change the political system of the Russian Federation.
"We understand very well that there has never been a better opportunity to restore order with Russia. Putin made a mistake and now he has united the entire developed world against him. We wanted to restore order with Russia when the Soviet Union collapsed, but it was too early back then. Now, after 40 years, the world is more prepared, and we can help Russia change its political system," he said.
Walesa emphasized that to change Russia's political system, it is necessary to convince Russians through propaganda.
"It's not Putin or Stalin, but the political system itself that leads to such elections. In order to benefit Russia, we must use propaganda to show every Russian that if they join the army tomorrow, they may die the day after tomorrow. Even their sons and daughters could lose their lives because of Putin's decisions. Therefore, we need to use propaganda not just with tanks or missiles, but to persuade every Russian that changing the political system is essential for their own lives, happiness, and also for ours," said Walesa.
According to him, the issue lies in the long-term stay of the Russian president in power.
"The country's president should not serve more than two terms of five years each. Otherwise, they can create a corrupt group, just like Putin has done now, or as Stalin used to do," added the former president.
