We have been aware of inevitability of full-scale Russian invasion since 2014- Commander of Azov Regiment Military School Berkal
The commander of the Azov Regiment's military school, Kyrylo Berkal, is convinced that after the events of 2014, it became clear that a full-scale war with the Russian Federation was inevitable
He expressed this opinion in the Verdict with Serhiy Rudenko program on Espreso TV channel.
"They say that if you want peace, you need to prepare for war. We have known since 2014, especially after the events in Ilovaisk, that there would be a full-scale Russian invasion. We saw this invasion back in 2014. Yes, their aggression was not as large-scale then, but the events of that year should be regarded as the Russian invasion of Ukraine. However, the international community did not respond to these events properly, and Russia realized that it could continue its aggressive actions against Ukraine," Berkal said.
The commander of the military school of the Azov regiment emphasized that the unit's soldiers had been preparing for war with Russia since 2014.
"When the world did not react to the annexation of Crimea and the Russian invasion of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Russia realized that they could act as they pleased. That is why our unit already realized that a full-scale war with Russia was inevitable. We have been preparing for this war since the very beginning of the Azov regiment," he added.
- On February 7, the General Staff reported that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost at least 133,190 soldiers, 3,245 tanks, 2,232 artillery systems on Ukrainian soil.
