We are willing to trade Belgorod for Ukraine joining NATO – Zelenskyy

Volodymyr Zelenskyy mentioned that Ukraine will not give away its land to join NATO. However, he's open to swapping Belgorod

He shared this on August 20 during a press meeting with Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen.

The President reacted to a Ukrainian reporter's query about if Ukraine would sacrifice land for peace and Alliance membership, possibly due to Western pressure. 

He wryly remarked, "Trading land? Sure, we'll trade Belgorod for NATO membership."

Frederiksen emphasized that deciding on peace talks is Ukraine's choice.

"I can say very clearly - the future of Ukraine is up to Ukrainians. It's their call when to talk peace," she said.

 

  • Moreover, Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, mentioned the country's plans to give 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. However, certain conditions need to be met for this to happen.
