War has terrible consequences for the whole world, next days will be crucial – German FM Baerbock
Commenting on the war in Ukraine, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that the next days will be crucial for peace in the world
She said this at a press conference with her Filipino counterpart Enrique Manalo in Berlin, Ukrinform reports.
“The next few days will be crucial not only for Ukraine, but crucial for world peace,” Baerbock said.
She called next week in New York “the week that will summarize the entire past year.” The German foreign minister reminded that the world condemned Russian aggression by voting almost unanimously for the UN General Assembly resolution in March last year. There were a number of countries that abstained and a minority that supported Russia. According to Baerbock, the first ones continued to abstain in other votes not because they do not condemn the war, not because they do not support the UN Charter, “but because they are highly dependent on Russia.”
“This war has terrible consequences for the whole world. Therefore, these days in New York, the whole world will appeal to President Putin to end the war and withdraw his troops, as well as to take care of restoring peace,” the diplomat emphasized.
