Zelenskyy's U.S. visit will worsen peace plan terms — political analyst
Political analyst Olha Len believes that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the United States will lead to a deterioration of the peace plan terms for Ukraine
She expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"It seems to me that Trump absolutely doesn't care about Ukraine. It feels like he's simply trying to do at least something good for Putin. The issue is that all these efforts on our part in the negotiation process are aimed at keeping the U.S. in our orbit. Again, all these efforts are not only for Trump. All our allies are somehow fixated not on the question of Ukrainian victory, but on the question of negotiations with Russia. And therefore we are forced to participate in this. Unfortunately, we are not in a strong position and are very dependent on external aid," Len explained.
The analyst believes that the Russians are now trying by all means to force Ukraine to capitulate, even using U.S. President Donald Trump.
"All these negotiations make no sense whatsoever. After all, even those 20 points that we are so actively discussing, Russia will not accept. They won't agree to these 20 points. It's obvious that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's trip to Trump will lead to a worsening of this 20-point peace plan. Then Ukrainian society will reject them again and discussions will continue again. In reality, the Russians are now lying in wait. They believe that Trump should do their work himself. That is, they are trying to force Ukraine to capitulate through Trump's hands," she added.
On Friday, December 26, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had agreed with White House head Donald Trump on a meeting that will take place in the coming days. Media outlets report that the leaders will meet at Mar-a-Lago on December 28.
