Zelenskyy's trust rating drops 9% in May 2025 — KIIS survey
The level of trust of Ukrainians in their president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, decreased to 65% in May 2025. However, it remains higher than at the beginning of February
This is according to a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
According to the results, 65% of Ukrainians trust Zelenskyy, while 30% do not trust him. Accordingly, the trust-distrust balance is +35%.
"These figures are lower than they were at the beginning of May 2025 (74% trusted him, and the trust-distrust balance was +52%), but remain higher than they were at the beginning of February 2025 (when 57% trusted him, and the trust-distrust balance was +20%)," the analysis states.
Sociologists note that they currently do not have additional information about the specific reasons for the decline in trust, as this requires additional research.
However, among the reasons that could have influenced Zelenskyy's rating are the weakening of the rally-around-the-flag effect, the short-term impact of the signing of the agreement on minerals, and the lack of progress in ending the war.
For reference: From May 15 to June 3, 2025, KIIS conducted its own nationwide public opinion poll. A total of 1,011 respondents were interviewed by telephone.
The survey was conducted with adult citizens of Ukraine who, at the time of the survey, resided in the territory of Ukraine controlled by the Ukrainian government.
Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.3) did not exceed 4.1% for indicators close to 50%, 3.5% for indicators close to 25%, 2.5% for indicators close to 10%, and 1.8% for indicators close to 5%.
As of the first half of May 2025, 74% of respondents trusted the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, while 22% did not trust him.
