Zelenskyy informs Markarova of plans to remove her as Ukraine’s Ambassador to U.S.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has informed Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarova of his intention to dismiss her from her post, but has offered her to remain part of the team

A new position for Markarova has not yet been found, but preliminary consultations have already taken place with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

A candidate for the new ambassador to the United States has not yet been approved. During a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy mentioned the candidacies of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko. Zelenskyy is also considering Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna for the position.

However, Stefanishyna said during a television marathon that this issue has not been officially discussed with her.

  • According to Bloomberg, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a phone conversation with U.S. leader Donald Trump on July 4, discussed the possibility of replacing Ukraine’s ambassador in Washington.
