Bloomberg’s sources say several top officials are being considered for the role, which is currently held by Oksana Markarova. The list includes Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
Zelenskyy has reportedly asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to begin discussions with the U.S. about appointing a new ambassador.
- Previously, the U.S. State Department appointed Julie Davis as the acting U.S. Chargé d'Affaires in Ukraine, who headed the embassy on May 5, replacing Bridget Brink.
