Zelenskyy hints at secret talks with Germany over Taurus missile supply
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy hinted that dialogue with Germany regarding Taurus missiles is ongoing – but not at a public level
He stated this to RTL.
Commenting on the issue of possible deliveries of these long-range cruise missiles, Zelenskyy said: "We are working in this direction."
The president made it clear that all discussions are taking place confidentially and behind the scenes.
"There are certain topics that Chancellor Merz and I have agreed not to discuss publicly. I promised him this and I am keeping my promise," the head of state said.
Merz, for his part, stated that he does not rule out the supply of cruise missiles – "within the realm of possibility."
In the past, Merz has spoken in favor of supplying Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. Since coming to power at the beginning of May, Merz's government has decided to limit public information about which weapons systems it will supply to Ukraine.
- Germany’s CDU/CSU ruling bloc is increasingly calling for Ukraine to be provided with long-range Taurus missiles.
