Zelenskyy expected to meet with Trump at G7 summit in Canada
Andriy Yermak, head of the President's Office, says that a meeting is being prepared between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. leader Donald Trump, which is to take place at the G7 summit in Canada on June 15-17
He said this on the air of the telethon.
Andriy Yermak noted that the purpose of the Ukrainian delegation's visit, led by First Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, to the United States was, in particular, to prepare for a possible meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump at the upcoming G7 summit in Canada.
"Our visit was preparation, among other things, for, I think, a meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Trump on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in Canada, which will take place in 10 days. This was one of the important steps in preparing for this conversation," the head of the President's Office emphasized.
According to Yermak, there is a "clear understanding" in Congress regarding the importance of supporting Ukraine, and it is impossible to organize a meeting without its participation.
In addition, he added that the Ukrainian delegation met with approximately half of the Senate and the heads of key committees of both houses of the U.S. Congress to explain Ukraine's position on the war and sanctions against Russia.
On June 3, the Ukrainian delegation, led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, arrived in Washington. The team met with U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg, and the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, had a conversation with Special Representative Steve Witkoff.
The Ukrainian delegation informed 23 U.S. senators about the current security, economic, and humanitarian situation in Ukraine during an analytical briefing on June 4.
