President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the statement made by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who claimed that the Ukrainian leader had said Ukraine was ready to continue waging war with Russia for another two to three years

The clarification was reported by BBC Ukraine.

According to Zelenskyy, his remarks were not about predicting the duration of the war but about the financial strategy for supporting Ukraine through long-term assistance, particularly using frozen Russian assets.

“This is basically about frozen assets. When someone says that Ukraine is still ready to fight for several years, I emphasized this to all European leaders: we will not fight for decades. But you have to show that you are able to consistently support Ukraine for a certain period of time,” Zelenskyy explained.

He added that European partners are currently working on a 2–3 year financial aid program to ensure stable support for Ukraine, regardless of political changes.

“The war may end sooner, but money is still needed — for recovery, for stability. This is not about someone wanting to fight, but about Ukraine not losing its ability to resist,” the president concluded.

  • A day earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in an interview with The Times that President Zelenskyy had told him during a personal conversation that Ukraine was ready to fight Russia for another two to three years.
