Zelenskyy discusses defense cooperation with Czech and Romanian presidents at Three Seas Summit

On April 11, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy takes part in the Three Seas Summit in Vilnius. There, he met with the leaders of the Czech Republic and Romania, Petr Pavel and Klaus Iohannis

Zelenskyy wrote this on Telegram.

"I met with Czech President Petr Pavel in Vilnius. I spoke about the situation on the battlefield, Russian shelling of our energy infrastructure and the needs of our state in the supply of energy equipment," he wrote.

The parties also discussed defense support for Ukraine and strengthening cooperation in the defense industry, Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO, as well as the conclusion of a bilateral security agreement.

In addition, Zelenskyy discussed defense cooperation with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis.

"I informed him about the Russian shelling of the Dnister hydroelectric power plant. Ukrainian air defense needs to be strengthened to create a reliable air shield," Zelenskyy wrote .

It is noted that the president plans to hold important meetings and sign new bilateral security agreements.

"The main thing now is to do everything to strengthen our air defense, meet the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and consolidate international support so that we can overcome Russian terror," Zelenskyy added.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the work of Ukraine's export corridor with Romania and Moldova. Zelenskyy thanked his colleague for Romania's position on the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products.

"In the context of Russian aggression, the Ukraine-Romania tandem makes a significant contribution to global food security," he emphasized.

Zelenskyy announced his arrival in Vilnius on Telegram in the morning, noting that he planned to hold important meetings and sign new bilateral security agreements.

"The main thing now is to do everything to strengthen our air defense, meet the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, and consolidate international support so that we can overcome Russian terror," Zelensky wrote.

Later, the president announced the signing of a bilateral security agreement.

"Latvia will provide Ukraine with military assistance worth 0.25% of GDP annually. In addition, Latvia is making a 10-year commitment to support Ukraine in cyber defense, demining, unmanned technologies, and unconditionally facilitates our accession to the EU and NATO," Zelenskyy wrote.

For reference. The Three Seas Initiative, also known as the Baltic, Adriatic, Black Sea Initiative, is an international economic and infrastructure initiative that brings together 12 European Union countries and Ukraine located near the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.
