Ukraine's long-range capabilities may expand after Trump meeting — Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that Ukraine will have more capabilities regarding long-range weapons after his conversation with U.S. leader Donald Trump in New York
His words were quoted by Interfax-Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv is currently using only its own weapons to respond to the Russian Federation.
"Regarding capabilities – we have enough. Now the issue is finances, I spoke about this with our partners: by increasing funding, we will be able to achieve similar long-range performance... Until now, we have only used our own weaponry for long-range targets. After my meeting with the U.S. president, we might have something more, I don't know, we'll see," he said.
According to him, the Kremlin uses 500-600 UAVs daily, while Kyiv uses 100-150.
The president also stressed that Ukraine has never attacked Russian civilian infrastructure and has always responded to Moscow's attacks on infrastructure facilities.
"About a year ago, we did not have the capability to respond, and you remember what they did then: they caused blackouts in Ukraine and many terrible events. Now we can respond, and they feel our powerful responses. We need a bit more funding," Zelenskyy added.
On September 23, Donald Trump, after a meeting with the Ukrainian leader in New York, stated that the Russian Federation resembles a "paper tiger" and that Ukraine is capable of returning its territory "to its original state" with the support of the EU and "even go further."
