Russian propaganda already preparing public for diplomatic failure — Zelenskyy
On Monday, April 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russian side does not want the war to end
He said this in his evening video address.
“Ukraine responded positively to the U.S. proposal for a full and unconditional ceasefire 34 days ago. And for 34 days now, there has been a clear Russian refusal to cease fire. Putin is focused on continuing the war. Russian state propagandists are preparing their audience for the idea that diplomacy will not bring results. There is only one reason for this: they are not afraid in Moscow. And if there isn’t enough strong pressure on Russia, they will continue doing what they’re used to—keep fighting,” the statement says.
According to Zelenskyy, peace is necessary, but it must be lasting.
“Ukraine always works constructively with partners in all formats that can bring security and restore peace. We are not just ready for peace quickly—Ukraine did not want a single second of war. And when the war ends, the world will clearly know that it happened because Russia, as the aggressor, was forced into peace. The aggressor who came to Ukrainian land in 2014, 11 years ago. And it’s important for everyone that this does not take more years,” the Ukrainian president added.
- On April 14, Zelensky also stated that in the three years of the full-scale invasion, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has spent about $1 trillion on the war in Ukraine.
