Putin’s call for May 'truce' is sign of weakness, not strength — political analyst

Political expert and journalist Vadym Denysenko believes that the desire of the Russian dictator Putin for a new "truce" in May should be seen as a sign of weakness

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

"In this case, the whole world understands that Putin is asking for a truce at the moment when he will be meeting with Xi Jinping. That is, all these Dodiks and Ficos are just the entourage. In principle, the main diplomatic victory for Russia at this moment is that Xi Jinping is coming to the Victory Parade. And we cannot rule out the possibility that some world leaders are expressing concern: 'What will happen if Ukrainian drones fly towards Moscow?' After all, everyone has seen perfectly well how Ukrainian drones reach Moscow. So from this point of view, this should be seen as a weakness of Vladimir Putin, who is asking for this truce. And probably, we should follow the same path as last time, when we should say: 'We are ready, but let’s not have a four-day truce, but at least a thirty-day complete cessation of hostilities,'" he said.

At the same time, Vadym Denysenko noted that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not agree to this.

"But we now have time to start pushing this issue. And, in fact, there are quite serious opportunities here to put pressure on the Russian Federation. Because, indeed, he is afraid of embarrassment if Ukrainian drones can reach the capital without serious obstacles," the political expert noted.

  • On April 28, the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced a so-called truce for the days of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. Ukraine has responded.
