The European Parliament calls for the delivery of fighter jets to Ukraine
The European Parliament adopted a resolution on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. Among other things, MEPs called for the delivery of fighter jets to Kyiv.
In the resolution, MEPs reaffirm their support for providing military assistance to Ukraine for as long as necessary and call for “serious consideration to be given to delivering fighter jets and helicopters, appropriate missile systems and a substantial increase in munitions to Ukraine.”
Another 100 soldiers return from Russian captivity
As a result of the exchange, 101 Ukrainian prisoners of war returned to Ukraine: 100 military and 1 civilian. According to the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, the released soldiers include the National Guardsmen, border guards and the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. 94 of them are defenders of Mariupol, including 63 soldiers from the Azovstal steel palnt. Their families have been waiting for them for so long.
The EU will ban the export of toilets to Russia in the 10th sanctions package
EU ambassadors have familiarized themselves with the 146-page list of goods to be restricted under the tenth package of sanctions. As it turned out, this package will ban the export of sanitary ware to Russia, including toilet bowls.
According to the EUobserver, the toilets have become a symbol of how the 24-year rule of Russian President Vladimir Putin has not improved the lives of Russians. Russian soldiers began stealing them first in Georgia in 2008 and now in Ukraine, as one in five Russian homes still does not have a toilet.
Slovakia recognizes Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism
On February 16, the Slovak parliament recognized Russia as a country that supports terrorism and its regime as a terrorist one. The MPs also supported the establishment of a special tribunal for Russia and condemned the hybrid war waged by Russia in Slovakia.
The deputies also condemned Russia's direct and indirect threats to use nuclear weapons. The country stated that it does not recognize the results of the sham referendums in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions of Ukraine.
Norway donates over EUR 7 billion to Ukraine
The Norwegian parliament announced a 75 billion kroner (more than EUR 7 billion) support plan for Ukraine as part of a five-year aid package. This makes Norway one of the largest donors in the world.
The assistance will be distributed between military and humanitarian aid over five years.
