Uzbek construction workers who arrived in Mariupol, had their documents taken away and sent to war – General Staff

"Citizens of Uzbekistan are present in the units of the Russian occupation forces, which are located in the temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk region," the statement said.

It is noted that they arrived in the city of Mariupol to carry out construction work. After that, their passports were confiscated and they were mobilized into the Russian army as volunteer soldiers.

During the day, the occupying Russian forces struck again at the territory of Ukraine using Shahed attack drones. As a result of successful combat work by the Air Force's air defense forces and means, all 5 attack UAVs were destroyed.

In addition, Russia launched 4 missile and 36 air strikes, and fired 23 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troop positions and populated areas.

The Russian forces are concentrating on 5 frontline areas, with about 30 combat engagements taking place there

"The enemy is concentrating its main efforts in the Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka sectors, heavy fighting continues. About 30 combat engagements took place over the last day," the statement said.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation remains unchanged. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 15 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

In the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian troops are holding steadfastly. 6 settlements in the Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the areas of Nadiya in the Luhansk region and Torske and Hryhorivka in the Donetsk region. It carried out air strikes in the Donetsk region. Two settlements in the Luhansk region and 4 settlements in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks near Bohdanivka and Ivanivske in the Donetsk region, despite Russia’s heavy artillery fire. More than 10 localities suffered from Russian artillery shelling, 

In the Avdiivka direction, being under heavy fire from enemy aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the area of Avdiivka. The Russian enemy launched an air strike in the area of Severne, Donetsk region. At the same time, it shelled more than 10 localities. 

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Mariinka in Donetsk region. The Russian forces launched an air strike near Krasnohorivka, fired at more than 10 localities. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, the Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. They carried out an air strike in the Donetsk region, shelled more than 10 localities. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian forces’ main focus is preventing further advance of Ukrainian troops. Russia made unsuccessful attempts to regain its lost ground in the area south of Novodarivka in Zaporizhzhia region.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions, inflicting artillery fire on the identified enemy targets, and conducting counter-battery operations.

Ukrainian Defence forces targeted 7 Russian artillery pieces over the last day

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation conducted 8 strikes on the areas where enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 4 reconnaissance UAVs of operational and tactical level.

Missile and artillery units targeted 7 enemy artillery pieces at firing positions over the day.

• On July 22, the Russian forces attacked the town of Seredyna-Buda and one of the villages in the Sumy region. One person was killed and five others were injured.

• The town of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region also came under Russian shelling. A woman died as a result of the Russian strike.
