US general assures that AFU have already received 98% of weapons needed for counteroffensive: President’s Office commented
US claims Ukrainian forces have received almost all the military equipment necessary for a successful counteroffensive, while the President’s Office emphasized the shortage of ammunition
During a hearing in the US House of Representatives Armed Forces Committee on April 26, General Christopher Cavoli, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, announced significant progress in the supply of weapons to Ukraine, as reported by NV.
Cavoli stated that Ukraine and its Western allies had assessed the equipment required for a counteroffensive, and subsequently, Ukraine's partners initiated the supply process. The general confirmed that over 98% of the promised military equipment had already reached Ukraine, highlighting the "generosity" of the allies in providing tanks and armored combat vehicles.
"I am absolutely confident that we have delivered the material they need, and we will continue to work to support their operations," said Cavoli.
Regarding simulated combat exercises conducted jointly with Ukrainian forces, Cavoli stated that the results indicated a favorable position for Kyiv's successful counteroffensive against the Russian troops occupying Ukrainian territory.
In response to these figures, Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to the head of the President's Office, commented during a televised program. He acknowledged that the current influx of weapons into Ukraine was adequate for "certain actions," but stressed that "weapons are never enough" when facing an adversary like the Russian Federation.
Podolyak expressed the belief that 98% seems an excessively high number. “There should be much more equipment, there is a real shortage of shells, especially heavy caliber shells. Both the EU and Ukraine are trying to solve this problem," said Podolyak.
