US extends over 34 military aid packages totaling $24 billion to Ukraine in 2023 — Zelenskyy
In 2023, the US provided $24 billion in aid to Ukraine. On December 27, the US announced 34 military aid packages for the current year worth $250 million
This was announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He thanked the US for its assistance and emphasized that this year the US has provided 34 military aid packages totalling over $24 billion.
"These include Patriots, Abrams, armored vehicles, ATACMS, DPICM, air defense, missiles, artillery shells, demining equipment and other critical equipment. A historic decision was made to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets. We will always be grateful for all this support," Zelenskyy wrote.
The President of Ukraine also noted that US leaders are part of a coalition of more than 50 countries that provide military assistance to Ukraine. He emphasized that such support "is crucial to countering terror and aggression not only in Ukraine but around the world."
The US Department of Defense noted that this is the 54th package of US military assistance to Ukraine since August 2021. This package uses the assistance that was authorized for Ukraine earlier in previous fiscal years.
The package will include additional ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles; 155-mm and 105-mm shells, TOW missiles, Javelin anti-tank systems, components for air defense systems, and more than 15 million rounds of ammunition for small arms.
The US is also providing Ukraine with explosive ammunition to remove barriers, spare parts, medical equipment, and other auxiliary equipment.
