Zelenskyy presents Trump with 'victory plan', invites visiting Ukraine
On Friday, September 27, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in New York
The meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy started at around 10:00 a.m. local time. Earlier, it was reported that they would meet at Trump Tower in New York.
In order to meet with Trump, the President of Ukraine extended his visit to the United States for another day.
During a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, former US President Donald Trump called for a fair settlement of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Suspilne reports.
"It has to end, President Zelenskyy wants it to end, and I'm sure President Putin does too... Many people and beautiful cities were destroyed. I've seen these cities and I don't know how they can be rebuilt as they were," Trump said.
Zelenskyy also invited Trump to come to Ukraine. Trump responded positively to the invitation, expressing his admiration for the country's beauty and climate.
"I will come. It's a beautiful country, great weather, everything is beautiful," he added.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the meeting with former US President Donald Trump "very meaningful".
During the conversation, Zelenskyy presented Trump with the 'victory plan' and discussed in detail the situation in Ukraine and its consequences for the Ukrainian people.
"We discussed many details. Thank you for this meeting! We need a just peace. We share a common view that the war in Ukraine must be stopped. Putin cannot win. Ukrainians must prevail," the president stressed.
