Aid for Ukraine is critically important: Zelenskyy talks to House Speaker Johnson
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a conversation with Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson
The Ukrainian leader announced this on his Telegram page.
"I had a phone conversation with Speaker of the US House of Representatives Johnson. I thanked him personally, both parties, the American people, and President Biden for their vital support of Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion," the statement reads.
Zelenskyy also briefed the congressman on the situation on the battlefield, including the rapid intensification of Russian air terror.
"In this situation, a quick congressional approval of aid for Ukraine is critically important. We are aware that there are different positions in the House of Representatives on how to do this, but the main thing is that the issue of assistance to Ukraine should remain a factor of unity," the President stressed.
The parties also discussed the need to cut off the sources from which Russia finances its war as soon as possible and to use frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.
- The chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Republican Michael McCaul, said that Speaker Mike Johnson plans to put the bill on aid to Ukraine to a vote after Easter (March 31).
