UN Commission to continue searching for evidence of genocide in Ukraine if its mandate is extended

The UN International Commission of Inquiry will continue its activities in Ukraine and look for evidence of genocide if its mandate is extended. This issue will be decided in early April.

This was stated by the chairman of the commission, Erik Møse, to Babel.

The UN Human Rights Council is to decide whether to extend the commission's mandate.

"The Commission appreciates the public statements of support from member states and civil society organizations," said Møse.

As for the genocide, the commission will draw conclusions on the basis of the evidence collected, as it does not have access to the occupied territories. The commission analyzes information from various sources and gives them an impartial assessment, Møse emphasized.
