Ukrainian troops face threat of operational encirclement in several areas - military expert Sniehyriov

Military expert, co-chairman of the Prava Sprava NGO, Dmytro Sniehyriov, commented on the possibility of an operational encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

He said this on the Espreso TV channel.

"There is a threat of operational encirclement in several directions. In the Vuhledar direction, Russian forces are trying to cut off the Ukrainian grouping concentrated in Vuhledar. That's why such activity is observed in the Marinka section of the frontline, where one of the flanks is concentrated towards Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar," noted Sniehyriov.

In the Lyman sector, there is a threat of creating an operational encirclement of the Ukrainian group in the area of Siversk, the military expert said.

"These are simultaneous attacks from the area of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and the area of Donetsk region. The situation is quite serious. But the main direction of the attack is in the area of Chasiv Yar. Russian occupation army is using the tactic of flanking the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," he added.

• On May 3, Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the Achilles battalion of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, said that the Russian army had not had any tactical success near Chasiv Yar over the past week. Nevertheless, Russian enemy continues to try to capture this town in the Donetsk region.
