Ukrainians have proved they can liberate territory, says NATO Secretary General
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukrainian forces have displayed the ability to retaliate and liberate territories
He said this during a speech before the Youth Workers' League - the largest political youth organization in Norway and associated with the Norwegian Labor Party.
"What we are seeing now is a brutal and bloody war of attrition. The advance of the Russians has stopped again. And the Ukrainians have shown the ability to strike back and return territories, they are planning a counteroffensive in the south," Stoltenberg said.
Stoltenberg noted that NATO has two tasks in the Russian-Ukrainian war: to support Ukraine and to prevent the conflict from escalating into a full-scale war between NATO and Russia.
He added: at the NATO summit in Madrid more than a month ago, all NATO countries agreed that they would support Ukraine as long as necessary.
He emphasized that the Alliance countries are paying a price for supporting Ukraine. However, it can be measured in money, while the price Ukraine pays is measured in human lives.
