Ukrainian UAVs struck 22% more Russian targets in February than January, says top general
On Monday, March 10, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, held a monthly meeting on unmanned systems development, emphasizing the critical role of drones in modern warfare
He shared details on Facebook.
Syrskyi highlighted that unmanned systems have become a key element of contemporary combat — constantly evolving, holding the front line, pushing it forward, saving soldiers’ lives, and destroying Russian forces and equipment.
He received reports from the Commander of the UAV Forces on capability development, combat performance, and efforts to expand UAV units.
"In February, we hit and destroyed 22% more enemy targets than in January. Our FPV drones and multirotor bombers are the most effective in damaging the enemy," Syrskyi said.
He noted that reports from UAV unit commanders — such as Madyar and Achilles — are particularly valuable, as their experience helps improve operations across the entire Armed Forces.
"I paid special attention to developing the Concept of Application. We urgently need a unified standard for UAV operations across all units to improve coordination in combat," he emphasized.
At the same time, Syrskyi warned that Russia is also adapting — learning from Ukrainian tactics and advancing its own drone technology.
"We're expanding fiber-optic-controlled drone use, but this part of our UAV forces needs maximum focus and effort. We cannot afford to lag in technological warfare — we must strengthen ourselves with our own resources. I've ordered full staffing of UAV units and awarded top servicemen," he stated.
- Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is a global leader in drone production.
