Ukrainian troops eliminate 510 Russian soldiers, 11 tanks and 8 drones – General Staff

Over the last day, the Ukrainian army repelled Russian attacks in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka sectors. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 510 Russian troops, 11 tanks and 8 enemy drones

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on September 23.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022 to September 23, 2023, amounted to:

Ukrainian troops repel Russian attacks in two directions

In the area of responsibility of the North operational-strategic group, in the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation remains without significant changes.

In the northeastern border area, Russia maintains a heavy military presence. It is conducting active sabotage activities in the border areas to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to risky areas, and is increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled enemy attacks in three areas of the Donetsk region. The Russian forces tried to regain lost ground in the area of Andriivka, Donetsk region, but were unsuccessful. Defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, and consolidating their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian troops successfully repelled enemy attacks in the areas of Avdiivka and Severne in the Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Marinka and Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region, where it made 12 unsuccessful attempts to force Ukrainian units out of their positions over the past day.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, enemy attacks near Robotyne and Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region resulted in significant losses for the occupiers in both manpower and equipment. Ukrainian defenders continue to hold the line and inflict losses on the occupying forces.

In the Melitopol direction, the Defense Forces continue their offensive, inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire front line and forcing them to withdraw from their positions.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, the Defense Forces continue counter-battery combat, destroying supply depots and successfully striking at the enemy's rear.


Russian army launches 5 missile and 49 air strikes on Ukrainian territory

The enemy launched 5 missile and 49 air strikes, fired 24 times from multiple launch rocket systems, at both the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian facilities.

A village in the Kharkiv region, four settlements in the Luhansk region, 9 villages and towns in the Donetsk region, two villages in the Zaporizhzhia region, and 5 more in the Kherson region suffered from Russian air strikes.

More than 120 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under artillery fire.

In addition, over the past day, Russians attacked Ukraine with 6 Shahed-136/131 drones, 2 of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense. In addition, a missile attack on the city of Kremenchuk injured more than 30 people, including three children. Also, civilians in Yurkivka, Zaporizhzhia region, were also affected by the missile attack. Private homes and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.


Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 2 Russian air defense systems and 4 artillery vehicles

Over the past day, the Ukrainian military aviation struck the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Command in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol, carried out 12 strikes on areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, and 4 strikes on Russian air defense systems.

The missile troops destroyed 2 anti-aircraft missile systems and 4 enemy artillery pieces.

  • The Institute for the Study of War believes that Ukrainian defenders are successfully continuing to advance in the Bakhmut and Melitopol directions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced southeast of Klishchiivka and north of Novoprokopivka.
