Ukrainian SkyUp airline nominated for prestigious award. Voting lasts until January 9
SkyUp CEO Dmytro Seroukhov was nominated for the prestigious Player of the Year award from the Swiss aviation magazine Aerotelegraph
This is stated on the official page of Aerotelegraph.
The news outlet emphasizes that this year has been very difficult for aviation, because the pandemic is not over yet, people have barely started flying and then "Russia attacked Ukraine", and, consequently, travel costs have risen and jet fuel prices have risen:
"The pandemic, although not over, no longer had a strong negative impact on demand. People were travelling again and even wanted to do a lot of things. And then Russia attacked Ukraine. The work of airlines was complicated not only by various airspace closures. The rise in the price of kerosene also posed problems for them".
Therefore, Aerotelegraph in its annual rating selected those people who were able to achieve significant success in the industry in this difficult time.
Among them is the head of the Ukrainian SkyUp airline Dmytro Seroukhov.
“Hardly any of the airlines faced such a challenge. Ukrainian Sky Up, which was founded only in 2018, actually had development plans for 2022. But because of the war in Ukraine, nothing came of it. However, Seroukhov nevertheless managed to keep the airline alive. The planes were moved, and SkyUp received licenses in various European countries. Now it is actively working as a wet leasing and charter provider, as well as carrying out humanitarian missions. Therefore, employees can continue to do their work at least partially,” the rating description says.
The voting lasts until January 9. You can choose a candidate by following the link.
In early July, SkyUp began leasing aircraft, and in the mid-summer opened charter flights in Europe.
In early November, SkyUp became a partner of UNITED24.
