Ukrainian military receives first four Zuzana howitzers
Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nagy has said that the first four Zuzana howitzers are already with the Ukrainian military.
He announced this on his Twitter.
"Slovakia is helping to protect the lives of innocent Ukrainians! We are happy to confirm that the first 4 Zuzana howitzers are already in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, ready to be deployed in defence against the Russian aggressors," the post reads.
It is known that Zuzana 2 is an upgraded version of Zuzana 1 (which, in turn, is an upgrade of the Czechoslovak Dana system), developed and produced in Slovakia. Compared to the previous version, Zuzana 2 has a new, longer barrel with a length of 52 calibers (previously 45 calibers), which allowed to increase the firing range to 41 km. It is also equipped with a new armored cabin. In addition, the turret has a full 360-degree rotation (previously only 60 degrees), and thanks to automation, the number of crew members has been reduced from 4 to 3. The howitzer is self-loading and capable of 5 rounds per minute.
