Ukrainian military destroys S-400 Triumf system Russia used to attack Kramatorsk cafe

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed a Russian S-400 air defense missile system near Debaltseve, Donetsk region. On June 27, the Russian military used this system to attack a cafe in Kramatorsk, killing 12 people

The North Operational Command reported the information.

"The defense forces took revenge on the occupiers for the attack on Kramatorsk. With the help of HIMARS, the fighters destroyed an expensive Russian S-400 Triumf air defense system, located near Debaltseve," the statement said.

According to the data available to the Center for Strategic Communications, this is the same S-400 system that fired the missile at the cafe in Kramatorsk.

Missile attack on Kramatorsk

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, was the first to report the attack on Kramatorsk on June 27. According to him, the attack on the city center occurred at around 7:32 pm, and the data on casualties and damage was being clarified.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, also promptly tweeted about the incident. He noted that in addition to Kramatorsk, the village of Bilenke came under fire.

Ukraine’s Office of the Prosecutor General reported that as of 11:00 pm, 4 people, including a 17-year-old girl, were killed when a shell hit the cafe. Forty-two people sustained injuries of varying severity, including an 8-month-old baby.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the attack on Kramatorsk, saying that each such manifestation of terror proves over and over again to Ukraine and the whole world that Russia deserves only one thing as a result of all it has done - defeat and a tribunal, fair and lawful trials against all Russian murderers and terrorists.

On June 28, the missile strike adjuster was detained. He was notified of being suspected of treason.

On the morning of June 29, the State Emergency Service recovered the body of another victim from under the rubble. In total, 12 people (including 3 children) were killed, 60 people (including 1 child) were injured, and 11 people were rescued, 7 of them by the State Emergency Service. 

Later, it was reported that Ukrainian writer Viktoria Amelina and 3 Colombian citizens - Hector Abad Faciolince, Sergio Jaramillo and Catalina Gomez - were injured as a result of a Russian missile strike on Kramatorsk. The news of Viktoria Amelina's death, a writer and prominent figure from Lviv, emerged on the evening of July 2. She was 37 years old and is survived by her husband and son.
