Ukraine's Security Service detains Russian agent who corrected June 27 missile strike on Kramatorsk
On 28 June, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had detained a Russian intelligence agent who had coordinated a missile attack on a cafe in the downtown of Kramatorsk on 27 June.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
"A resident of Kramatorsk was served a notice of suspicion of high treason," the statement reads. Currently, the use of detention as a measure of restraint is being considered.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) noted that the detained adjuster of the strike on Kramatorsk was an agent of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. He is a resident of Kramatorsk and an employee of a local gas transport company.
According to the SBU, on June 27, the adjuster was tasked with figuring out whether a cafe in the downtown area was open and documenting the presence of visitors. To fulfil the task, he secretly filmed the cafe and the cars parked nearby. After that, the defendant sent the footage to Russian military intelligence.
"He was previously recruited remotely by the Russian intelligence, and during the full-scale invasion, he was 'activated' and assigned the task of collecting intelligence on the locations and movements of the Defence Forces in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk," the SBU reports.
The Russian agent was also supposed to pass on the coordinates of local critical infrastructure and crowded public places.
"This detention is also a signal to all other adjusters and traitors working for Russian enemy. Remember - punishment is inevitable! Just as the organisers of war crimes - representatives of the Putin regime - will inevitably be held accountable before an international tribunal," said SBU Chief Vasyl Malyuk.
Comprehensive measures are currently being taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrator and other involved persons to justice.
