Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry reacts to Orban's statement that West should stop arming Ukraine
The Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry mentioned that Orban renewed his rhetoric about the ineffectiveness of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation, after the visit of the Hungarian Minister of Defense to Moscow, where Russian gas supply was discussed
Oleg Nikolenko, the spokesman of the ministry, shared the statement on Facebook.
"The Russian Federation strikes Ukraine with cruise missiles, and Europe - with skyrocketing gas prices. These are all elements of one Russian plan, which aims to undermine peace and prosperity in European countries. With the ignorance of Russia's crimes in Ukraine - peace in Europe will not be restored," he stated.
He emphasized that Hungary's rhetoric regarding sanctions against Russia changed on the second day after the visit of the Hungarian Minister of Defense to Moscow, where he asked for an increase of the volume of Russian gas supplies.
Nikolenko emphasized that it is important to call a spade a spade: Europe is in an economic crisis not because of sanctions, but because of Russia's hybrid war.
The spokesman of the Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry noted that Putin will not stop until he destroys the European order, which is based on democratic values.
It is futile to hope that concessions or appeasement will encourage the Kremlin to quench its aggressive appetites. Without peace and stability in Ukraine, there will be no peace and stability in Hungary or in Europe in general. Europe's strategy should be based on joint decisive actions and unity that will help stop the war and bring Russia to justice for its crimes," Nikolenko wrote.
He thanked the European partners for their unyielding position.
"Together we will definitely defeat Russia, even despite the fears of the head of the Hungarian government that the Russian army has an 'asymmetrical advantage,'" he added.
