Ukrainian forces switched from defence to offensive on Bakhmut front – Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister
During the day of 6 June, Ukrainian troops advanced significantly on the Bakhmut front. Russian forces are on the defensive
Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine, reported on Telegram.
"For the past day, we have progressed from 200 to 1,100 metres in various sections of the Bakhmut front. Russian forces on this front have gone on the defensive, trying to hold the occupied positions," said Maliar.
She added that the epicentre of hostilities is still in the East. Russian forces continue to withdraw their reserves to the Bakhmut front from the depths to protect themselves.
The deputy minister of defence also reported that the Wagner Group soldiers remain in the rear units, and the regular army of the Russian Federation is conducting combat operations. The Russians are bringing in assault troops.
For the defence of the Bakhmut front, our military uses previously prepared fortifications.

On 5 June, Hanna Maliar stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have moved to counter-offensive actions on some fronts, and are also moving with a wide area on the Bakhmut front, occupying dominant positions.
