On December 5, Russian troops continued their offensive in the Avdiivka area and made confirmed progress. Geolocation footage reveals the occupiers moving along the railway track north of the Avdiivka Coke Plant near Avdiivka.
Additional geolocation footage from December 4 shows Russian forces advancing south of the Avdiivka Terykon area. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces repelled at least 23 Russian attacks east of Novobakhmutivka, northeast of Berdychi, and near Stepove, Avdiivka, Sievierne, and Pervomaiske.
In response, Ukrainian troops launched a counterattack near Avdiivka on December 5. Geolocation footage from December 4 indicates that the Defense Forces have progressed east of the railway track north of the Avdiivka Coke Plant.
A Ukrainian military observer reported on December 5 that Ukrainian forces counterattacked north of the Avdiivka Coke Plant, compelling Russian troops to retreat from two advanced positions. Concurrently, a Russian media blogger mentioned Ukrainian troops counterattacking near Stepove, exerting pressure on the Russian defense from the direction of Novokalynove.
