Ukrainian forces hold dominant heights near Bakhmut, but advance has stopped
Defense forces of Ukraine firmly hold the dominant heights to the north and south of Bakhmut, while the advance has been suspended to fulfill other tasks
kraine’s Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar reported the information on Telegram.
According to her, Russian troops launched unsuccessful attacks in the Bakhmut direction, but overall, their offensive activity has been reduced. Russians relied on air strikes and intense artillery shelling.
"On May 26-27, there were no active battles, neither in the city nor on the flanks. Instead, the enemy is actively shelling the outskirts of the city and its approaches," noted Maliar.
In addition, she noted that the Ukrainian side firmly holds "the previously occupied dominant heights to the north and south of Bakhmut. At the same time, the advance was suspended yesterday and today in order to fulfill other tasks."
The decrease in Russia’s offensive activity is due to the replacement and regrouping of troops. It is trying to strengthen its own capabilities, emphasized Maliar.
She later added: "Our troops control the outskirts of Bakhmut in the southwestern part near the airplane monument.”
