Ukrainian forces foil Russian border provocation in Chernihiv region

According to the Ukrainian General Staff press service, a Russian reconnaissance and sabotage group planted the flag of the aggressor country near the Hremyach checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Russian border in the Chernihiv region. 

The General Staff noted that such actions were not uncommon, as Russia occasionally resorted to symbolic provocations in border areas for propaganda purposes.

"This latest provocation by the occupiers failed – Ukrainian border guards detected it in time, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the 15th Army Corps destroyed the Russian tricolor. The 'presence' of Russian troops in Chernihiv region has been eliminated," the report states.

The General Staff added that the situation on the Ukrainian-Russian border remains under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

• According to the State Border Guard Service, in the areas of Yunakivska and Khotynska communities in Sumy region, Russian occupiers continue using small assault groups. However, enemy advancement has been halted.
